More About Bowls

If you would like to learn more about bowls – their various forms, types of wood and design elements; a couple books that I highly recommend are:

The Art of Turned Bowls: Designing Bowls with a World-Class Turner by Richard Raffan

and

500 Wood Bowls: Bold & Original Designs Blending Tradition & Innovation

Both make excellent Coffee Table books as well.

Woodturning

For an introduction to Woodturning (should you wish to learn more about the process or even evaluate woodturning as a hobby a good resource is:

Turning Wood with Richard Raffan by Richard Raffan (also available in a DVD format)

Building this website

Once I had decided that I needed a website and that I would have to update it frequently; there was no doubt that I would have to do this by myself – along with learning how to take decent photographs and edit them for web presentation.

Fortunately, the task wasn’t as daunting as it initially appeared to be – both from a technology and monetary perspective.

Other than paying for the domain and hosting (provided by Go Daddy at extremely modest rates), the rest is available at no cost.

WordPress, a leading blog and website platform along with several plugins are available at no cost; supported by numerous online resources.

Photography

A good resource for learning photography is

Photographing Arts, Crafts & Collectibles and Capture the Light: A Guide for Beginning Digital Photographers both by Steve Meltzer.

you will have have to make an initial investment in a good ‘Point & Shoot’ Camera or even better an entry level DSLR; along with some basic lighting and props.

Once you put this all together you will be surprised as to how simple it is !
